Last February, Manny Ramirez hired Boras to be his agent. Why would he do that? Let me begin to answer that it was to figure a way to get Manny out of his 2009-2010 contract so he could hit the free agent market.

Let’s face it. If Boston picks up the $20 mil contract for ‘09 and ‘10, then Boras doesn’t make a dime.

So figure it out, Scott! that’s right get him traded and demand they drop the option part of the contract and what do you have? Come on, I am waiting?

That’s right. A new contract for Manny that Boras gets a piece of. Nice. Clean. Simple.

Scott Boras doesn’t care what it does to the game. He will be doing the same thing this off-season with Rick Ankiel and others. Let’s drive up the contracts, which drives up costs, which, in turn, gets passed off to the consumers (fans).

Boras vehemently denies he help to orchestrate a trade. Remember, Scott Boras works his trade like a reality show version of Survivor. Lie about it.

Some are there and dont see it. Their head got too big. They fed off the fame and glory. One such slide to shame is Tim Donaghy, former NBA referee.

Donaghy was sentenced to 15 months in prison for betting on NBA games that he directly had contact with. Shame is brought to himself and his family. A Brooklyn judge could have given him 33 months but because of his cooperation it was lightened.

What would you give to be THAT close to a professional sport?

Either you are good even to win or not. You gota have the players to be competitive!

“The Royals were stumbling through another loss when the newest member of the organization walked into an empty room overlooking the field at Kauffman Stadium. A 53-year-old psychologist sat in a cushioned chair, glanced down at the diamond and began to explain.

My job here,Andrew Jacobs said over the sound of fans, is to be of assistance to the players and coaches to help them mentally deal with whatever it is they have to deal with, whether its a personal issue or a professional issue.

Jacobs role with the team was only two weeks old, but his path to the job stretched a long way back, down two different roads.

One went back to Royals general manager Dayton Moores first face-to-face conversation with manager Trey Hillman, when the two men talked about what would be necessary to turn perennial losers into consistent winners.

Dayton and I have been discussing that since the beginning even a little during the interview process, Hillman said. Its about focus and balance, understanding their individual personalities better, and what they have to do day in and day out to be successful, whether its as a starting pitcher, bullpen pitcher, bench player. A sports psychologist helps the players get to know themselves better.

The other path to this place began in a college classroom 30 years earlier, when Jacobs, then a student, picked up a book about sports psychology, a subject most people considered a kind of snake oil.

Now here he was, after 27 years in the business, including time spent with the U.S Olympic team, the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Comets %u2014 as well as a 1990 stint with the Royals settling in as another piece of the puzzle that Moore has been assembling as he tries to reverse the Royals fortunes.

This is a game of failure and how you deal with it,Jacobs said. Its a game of negativity. George Brett is in the Hall of Fame, his career batting average is just over .300, he failed nearly twice as many times as he succeeded. So failure is inevitable.

Nice motto. Too bad you don’t live it. Too bad you don’t walk the walk. China doesn’t embrace anyone unless you are Chinese. At least it seems that way.

Here is the scene. The USA basketball team wins the Gold medal at the Olympics. The team celebrates away from Olympic Village and heads for a local watering hole. STOP. Can’t come in…. at least some of you can not come in. If you are black, you must turn back! No LeBron or Kobe or Deron or any black person. Also, if you look Mongolian (is there Mongolians on the USA team?) then no admittance.

Bar owners near the Workers’ Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises. “Uniformed Public Security Bureau officers came into the bar recently and told me not to serve black people or Mongolians,” said the co-owner of a western-style bar, who asked not to be named.

This is the 21st century and we have not progressed very far with the all-mankind thing.

Could this possibly be true? Could it possibly be enforced?

The Chinese government will hopefully issue denials soon.

Oklahoma City professional basketball team reportedly will be called the Thunder. Also reported is that the NBA has registered okcthunderbasketball.com and okcthunderbasketball.net with the league office.

Let me get this straight. We have the Suns, the Heat and now the Thunder? Now it would be inconsiderate to name a team with any Native American connotation. They may be offended. We have plenty of animals for mascots. The Bulls, the Grizzlies and the Timberwolves to name a few.

Has global warming been the catalyst for these Mother Nature type namings? Got to be careful she might get offended and unleash a bigger fury than ever seen. We are treading towards the climate names. What’s next, the Tornados? Oh no that can’t work, someone who has experienced a T-storm might get their feelings hurt.

What will this caricature of Thunder look like? Will it be dark clouds? Can’t be. That is not thunder that is dark clouds. Will it be lightning? Then they should have been named Lightning.

Can anyone tell me what Thunder looks like?

Poor Aaron Rodgers. HE has waited three years for this opportunity and then it was handed to him very easily. But lo and behold Brett Favre wants to UN-retire. Can you do that? Of course. Many high profile athletes have done that. But Rodgers will be under tremendous pressure to guide this young, talented team towards the Super Bowl.

Honestly, I don’t think anything changes with Rodgers or Ryan Grant or Donald Driver or anyone else in this offense. If anything, Greg Jennings has been downgraded slightly because people believe that Rodgers won’t throw the long ball as often as Favre did last year. But the wideouts said that Rodgers’ arm was stronger in mini-camp than at any point last year and some even said his arm is as strong as Favre’s. I don’t believe that, but this is obviously his team going forward and we’ll see if he can handle the pressure and can stay healthy. Project a season of 3.000+ yards and 18-20 TDs if he can stay healthy for 16 games

Look for Favre to end up in Tampa Bay where coach Jon Gruden has Jeff Garcia. Garcia is unhappy with his contract. Gruden loves to collect old QB’s.

Where do you think he will go? Will he stay retired?

Last year, fueled by the fallout over Spygate and coach Bill Belichick’s relentless drive, the Patriots extended a middle finger to the world while producing the only 16-0 regular season in NFL history. But proving a point every week is a tiring endeavor, and New England wasn’t nearly as potent in the playoffs, finally buckling in a shocking Super Bowl defeat to the loose and undaunted Giants. Now, undoubtedly, the Pats are preparing to use that disappointing outcome as fuel for another ruthless run at redemption. They’re certainly capable of pulling it off, and playing in a soft division helps. Then again, seven of the eight Super Bowl losers this decade have failed to make the playoffs the following year, and it’s hard to imagine the Patriots staving off the mental fatigue that plagued them down the stretch in ‘07. Could this be the season the Belichick haters finally get their fantasy fulfilled?

Jerryd Bayless has just been drafted by the indiana pacers, and will be a huge impacy running the guard spot. The pacers struggled this year due to heavy injuries on the top key players and had to play all the youngsters for the remainder of the year which they fell to paying in the playoffs. Jerryd Bayless played at Arizona. The 6′3 guard averaged almost 20 points a game at Arizona, and had a total number of 127 assists for the wildcats. The pacers have chosen the right player at the right time. Indiana has been using all young players and should go pretty far in the playoffs next year and Jerryd Bayless should be one of the top guards to really step it up and make it happen. Jerryd Bayless played one year at Arizona and is looking to produce a championship for the pacers, and compete for rookie of the year which would really be tough.

This years 2008 NBA draft was a thriller. Top 3 picks, going from number 1 were Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, and O.j Mayo. The player that should make the biggest impact in the NBA I think is Michael Beasley. Yeah Rose has talent but Hinrich should still be able to run the point. Beasley is a big guy and can shoot anywhere on the floor and can play big man down low. Mayo I don’t think could last in the NBA to be honest, he probably will find a way but his attitude just get’s me. Michael Beasley was “beasting” it up at Kansas State while averaging 26 points per game, 408 total rebounds, and 54 blocks as a freshman. The stats are incredible. The nets will really be able to use him down in the post and I believe Beasley could get the rookie of the year award.

For Memphis, Derrick Rose averaged 14 a game, and had a total of 189 assists. Rose can run up and down the floor and get the plays set and can possibly pass and be the next jason kidd. The Bulls will probably have Rose in the starting lineup I wouldn’t be surprised, and will move Hinrich to the 2 spot. In my opinion, I think Michael Beasley was the nba draft pick to get, and the Nets were smart and made the “right” move. These 3 players will make a difference and exciting for fans to watch in the next season.
